We are excited that you are interested in baptism. At Gracepoint we believe that baptism is an important step of obedience for every person who has accepted Christ as his/her Savior and Lord. We consider it a privilege to walk with you as you take this next step on your spiritual journey.

Who Should Be Baptized

Christians believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Therefore, salvation occurs only when a person places his or her faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as the sufficient payment for his or her sin.

If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, the next step is baptism, which is an opportunity to publicly declare to others that you have accepted Christ and are now walking with Him.

What Baptism Symbolizes

Baptism is a way of showing others that one has entered into a relationship with Jesus Christ. It symbolizes what took place in the heart at the time of salvation:

• Acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
• Sharing in His death and resurrection illustrated by going under the water (dead to old life), then rising again (new life).
• Being symbolically washed clean from sin after receiving Jesus' forgiveness by His death on the cross.

Because Jesus instructed His followers to be baptized, baptism is an act of obedience. While it is not necessary for salvation, it demonstrates submission to God. We baptize by immersion at Gracepoint because we believe Scripture shows that Jesus modeled that for us as the way to publicly acknowledge our faith in Him.

The Baptism Process

The baptism process at Gracepoint has been designed to be both simple and meaningful. We would like this historical event in your life to be as memorable as possible.

• Indicate on a commitment card at Sunday service that you want to be baptized and let your small group leader know of your commitment.
  
  • Write your salvation testimony. If you need help, we have provided some helpful guidelines to write your testimony. Your small group leader will also be able to help you in this process. Please turn in your testimony 3 months prior to the baptism to ensure adequate time for review¹ by pastoral staff. Read some of our members' testimonies.
• Get baptized! Baptisms take place five times a year (Feb, Arpil, August, October, December) on a Sunday during worship service and include a showing of your prerecorded testimony video.
