SF Campus | Daemin & Ahmi Kim
Daemin and Ahmi met 23 years ago as freshmen at Cal, and have been married 18 years. After some excursion through Business schools, Daemin is now a seminarian and one of the church staff. Ahmi works in the Financial District as a Contract Specialist. Currently, they lead the SFSU college and grad ministry and oversee the Gracepoint San Francisco Campus. The next great adventure is for their 17-year old daughter Lydia to get a driver's license.
Praxis / Joyland | Tony & Michelle Sun
Tony immigrated to Walnut Creek, CA at the age of 13. He attended Diablo Valley College until he transferred to Cal to earn a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Michelle immigrated to southern California when she was 14 and majored in Civil Engineering at Cal. Tony now works as an IT manager for Williams-Sonoma. They have two boys, Stephen (14) and Philip (11). Tony and Michelle are the directors of Praxis, our post-college ministry. Tony is also our ImpACT Director and Michelle serves as our Joyland Director. They both spend much of their time creating great services for our children.
College Koinonia | Stephen & Suzanne Suh
Steve and Suzanne are both Cal alumni (Class of ‘94) and have been advising and mentoring Cal students in our Christian fellowship for the past 15 years. You can typically catch Steve working in his office at Wurster Hall or hanging out at Strada talking to some college students or Suzanne having office hours at the YWCA. Their son Jonathan is 6 and their daughter Kristen is 3. If you have any questions about our fellowship or just want to talk, just shoot them an email or give them a call!
College Kairos | Rick & Sue Yi
Rick and Sue are both Class of 1994 Cal grads. Rick, from Hawaii, was one of the first Cognitive Science majors, and is a software engineer who loves playing volleyball. Sue, originally from Southern Cal, majored in Sociology. Sue now works full time at church, overseeing all the church rotations and is the interior decorator of our North Loop building as well as the Sierra Lodge. Together, they oversee all of our Kairos campus groups. They have two sons, Nathan (8) who is in 3rd grade, and Justin (5) is starting kindergarten.
College acts2fellowship | Pastor William & Esther Kang
Pastor William and Esther are the directors of acts2fellowship, a UC Berkeley campus group. A die-hard Cal fan, William graduated from Cal in 1991 with a degree in economics. After working for ten years in consulting and information technology, he entered full time ministry and earned his Masters of Divinity from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. He is now the college department pastor at Gracepoint Fellowship Church. Esther also graduated from Cal in 1992 with a degree in geography. After working in the marketing industry for several years, Esther now works full time for Gracepoint and orchestrates what happens at a2f. Their children are Caleb (9), is also a Cal fan, and Danielle (5), who starts kindergarten this year.
College CSUEB | Chris & Judy Lee
Chris & Judy bear the distinction of being the couple who has been at Gracepoint the longest, faithfully serving since their undergrad days at Cal. Chris now works as an engineer and Judy as a physician’s assistant, when she is not tending to all the babysitting needs at Gracepoint as the babysitting “master planner." They have two daughters - Tabitha (14), who will be a freshman at Alameda High this fall, and her little sister Joanne (4).
ISM | Chul & Sharon Kim
Chul grew up in South Korea before he came to UC Berkeley for his graduate studies. Currently, he is teaching Chemistry at Cal State East Bay as an assistant professor. Sharon was also born in South Korea and immigrated to the US at the age of 12. She studied Economics at UC Berkeley and is now a member of the UC Berkeley staff. She also teaches English as well as the Bible to international students. Chul and Sharon have two children - Michael (10) and Pauline (5). At this point, Michael's most prominent contribution to society is his role in the regional soccer team though he likes writing short stories and doing math, too. Pauline is preparing to make her grand entry into society this fall as a kindergartner.
Element (Youth) | Ben & Elise Koo
Ben and Elise are both UC Berkeley Class of 1992 graduates. Ben is a busy release engineer who loves to take his 12 year old daughter Joanna and 6 year old son Jeremiah fishing in his spare time. Elise and her video production team work together to produce many of our videos that we see throughout the year. Ben and Elise might be the thinnest couple at our church, but Elise does have a soft spot for caramel apples and popcorn. Together, they lead our youth group of over 60 kids.
